The Rim width is the distance between the two humps on the barrel of a wheel, and decides the width of the tire that will be mounted on the wheel. The unit of rim width is inch, and it's usually followed by a capital letter "J" which indicates the height of the hump. After you get a wheel, you should get the tire of the proper size that match the wheel, for example, when the rim width is 8.5J, the best tire width should be 245mm; and 9J 255mm; 10J 305mm; 10.5J 315mm.
